# Import Document Objects from Catalogue

To re-use Catalogue Items, use the **Import Document Objects from Catalogue Project** option. When this option is selected for a Document Object type, Aligned Elements will automatically scan for all Catalogue Projects and list all items of the selected type from all Catalogue Projects in the list **Select the items to import**.

The import dialog has many similarities with the regular [**Import Document Objects**](/aligned-elements-web-client-user-manual/document-object-actions/import-document-objects.md) dialog. The options **Change Comment**, **Recreate Chapters**, **Import Tags** and **Create Tags if not existing** works in the same way as in **Import Document Objects**.

In addition, this dialog offers the option **Include traced objects**. When selected, traced objects (of the selected types in the dropdown) to the selected items in **Select the items to import** are included in the imported set. The suggested trace paths are derived from the Trace Holder configuration of the type. To recreate the traces at import, be sure to also select **Keep internal traces**.

For example, if a Design Input Requirement is selected in **Select the items to import** and the value Design Input Requirement/Design Output is selected in **Include traced objects**, the import will include:

* The selected Design Input Requirement
* All Design Output traced from that Design Input Requirement

Click **OK** to start the import.

Once the items have been imported, their IDs will be depicted in green in views to indicate that they are re-used items.
